April 30, 2020 – Goodwill South Texas To Re-Open Beginning May 1st.

The Governor announced on Monday that retailers are allowed to open at 25% capacity on Friday, May 1, 2020.

This is great news for South Texas!  Families in our community are looking to donate their gently-used items and shop for affordable clothing and household items.  As a self-funded nonprofit, the revenue generated from our retail stores directly supports our vision of changing lives through the power of work.  We do this by offering no-cost job training and placement services to people disabilities and other barriers to employment.  Now more than ever these services are critical to help South Texans get back to work.  We are opening Goodwill South Texas in phases.

COVID-19 Re-Open Precautions

We are taking important precautions in our open stores and donation stations to ensure our employees and customers’ protection.  We have implemented the following safety precautions:

ACCEPTING DONATIONS:  We highly encourage contact-less donation drop-offs.  All donation attendants will be wearing gloves and face covering.

  • We are asking our donors to bag or box their donations
  • At the donation site, they can either drop off or allow our donation attendants to unload the donations
  • Maintain 6-foot social distance
  • A receipt will be placed on the windshield of the vehicle

SHOPPING:  Employees and shoppers will maintain a 6-feet distance between them and follow directional signs throughout the store.  Employees will be wearing face covering.

March 16, 2020

With the recent events and news around Coronavirus (COVID-19), below are a few things to know about your local Goodwill:

Increased Safety. The health and safety of our employees and customers has always been our top priority. We have increased the frequency and heightened the extent of the daily cleanings in our stores, distribution centers and offices. Also, we are closely following the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines and instructing staff about the importance of washing their hands and staying home if they feel sick.

Goodwill Hours of Operation. Until further notice, effective March 17, 2020:

  • Goodwill Stores, Donation Stations, and Clearance Store will be open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for Beeville).
  • The Learning Centers, Administration, Ecommerce, New Goods and Distribution Centers will continue normal business hours. We encourage the practice of social distancing by maintaining a space of at least three feet.
  • Goodwill VITA sites in Corpus Christi are closed.

While there are no confirmed cases in South Texas, we are taking an abundance of precaution. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep you updated.

Please stay healthy & safe.
