Harlingen, TX – Goodwill Industries of South Texas will host their 6th Annual Goodwill BBQ Cook Off on Saturday, October 19th at Valley Race Park from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. This International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA) sanctioned championship cook-off draws talented cookers from all over Texas to showcase the best in BBQ – chicken, ribs, brisket along with beans and pan de campo.

As the largest  fundraising activity for Goodwill in the Rio Grande Valley, the public is also encouraged to bring gently used clothes to the onsite Clothing Donation Drive from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Proceeds from the event help the free job training such as digital skills training and employment placement programs for people with disabilities and other disadvantages to employment in South Texas.

Other Saturday events include a Kid’s Q competition at 11 a.m., along with a live music performance by the Chris Marshall, followed by Kikker Daddy at 1 p.m. Additionally, YouTube star, Parker Coppins, aka “Parker Plays” will be on-site as one of the volunteer taste judges and visit with the cooking teams.

Grillin’ T’s was awarded Grand Champion at last year’s Goodwill Cook Off.  This year, 40+teams are anticipated to compete.  Approximately $4,000 in prize money will be awarded to top cookers including the coveted title of Grand Champion.
