    Q:  What is Uniforms for the Final Salute?

    A:  Uniforms for the Final Salute is designed to honor Unaccompanied Veterans when they pass away.  Unaccompanied Veterans will receive a dress uniform from their branch of service to ensure they are buried with honor and respect for serving our country. 

     

    Q:  Who is an Unaccompanied Veteran?

    A:  An Unaccompanied Veteran is a term to describe veterans who are considered indigent, homeless, or those without family.   

     

    Q:  Who began this partnership?

    A:  Uniforms for the Final Salute is a partnership between Goodwill Industries of South Texas,  Peerless Cleaners, Nueces County Veterans Services, Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery and Treviño Funeral Home to honor Unaccompanied Veterans by providing them with dress military uniforms when they  pass away. 

     

    Q:  How can the public help?

    A:  The public can help support Uniforms for the Final Salute by donating Dress Military Uniforms to any Goodwill or Peerless Cleaners location.

     

    Q:  Who do I call to find out more information or to receive a uniform?

    A:  Call Goodwill at 361-884-4068 to find out more information.  Normal business hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

     

    Q:  Can I give a financial gift to support the Uniforms for the Final Salute program?

    A:  Yes! Your financial gift will help cover the cost of operating the Uniforms for the Final Salute program.

    About Veterans in the Coastal Bend:  According to The Veterans In Texas: A Demographic Study,  the Coastal Bend has a veterans population of 8.8%, which is significantly higher than the state rate of 6.3% and the national rate of 6.7%.  This represents about 30,000 veterans who live in the Coastal Bend.
