Maria struggled with an inexplicable feeling of sadness for as long as she could remember. Despite her lingering feelings of sadness, Maria accomplished many feats in life including earning a degree in elementary education.
Ten years into her teaching career, everything seemed to fall apart – her work life, her home life – it all came crumbling down. Maria was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She lost her teaching job, her marriage ended and consequently she also lost her confidence.
She discovered Goodwill in 2010 and was placed into the Goodwill Temporary Services program (GTS). At Goodwill, she found people who finally understood her disability and worked with her to help her earn a good job and get her life back. Slowly, she has regained her confidence.
Today, Maria is happily employed and her direct supervisor raves about her performance.
